In my appointment yesterday
I revisited and reaffirmed
my duty and purpose
as a financial planner.
The client has problems
which is not uncommon to many people today.
For the client, I became a reality check.
Looking back, my words were cold and of little comfort.
I didn't expect the client to be able to sit thru
the 2 hours review session with me.
Uncomfy - yes but a stark reminder.
At that point, I know
this client cannot afford to get
financial product from me.
Yet, I kept going.
I didn't scold the client of course.
I encouraged the client to make a decision.
To solve the financial problems.
To shelve dreams and aspirations.
To deal with it now.
It was decided.
And I am happy to have done it together with the client.
We created the Plan.
The solution.
Even though it was a bitter pill to swallow
for the client,
I am glad I was there to help.
Some may think I wasted time.
Wasted money cos I bought coffee.
I didn't think so,
instead I believe that
in the more divine scheme of things
I am the right person to help
this person at that time,
to make a life-changing move for the better.
That to me is one of the key purpose of being
a Financial Planner.
